About the client

Our client is building global infrastructure for payments, payroll and mobility, enabling businesses to hire, pay and relocate talent across more than 190 countries. The platform spans complex domains including finance, compliance, identity, immigration workflows and global operations, and has been in active development for around nine months across web and mobile.

Design is not cosmetic here. It is a core product function.

The role

You will take over the design of a live product across web and mobile, building on the work already in place and carrying it forward. You will work closely with the founder to turn abstract ideas into clear, usable and scalable product experiences, transforming complex workflows into journeys that feel intuitive and trustworthy while staying practical to build. Alongside the product work, you will create graphics and motion design for the sales and business teams.

This is a mid-level role with a clear path to design leadership. It suits someone with strong product intuition, a strong visual eye and clear communication who can pick up an existing product quickly, take ownership of design decisions and grow into leading them.

Key responsibilities

Product design

  • Get up to speed on the existing product, flows and design decisions.
  • Take ownership of the product’s design across web and mobile.
  • Work with the founder to shape the product vision.
  • Turn ideas into executable designs.
  • Run product discovery, user research and problem framing.
  • Define and refine information architecture across complex systems such as payments, compliance, onboarding and dashboards.
  • Define and refine user flows across those systems.
  • Design end-to-end user journeys for web and mobile.
  • Maintain and evolve the design system, keeping it aligned with engineering constraints.
  • Work with frontend, mobile and backend engineers to ensure designs are feasible and built faithfully.
  • Make design decisions with usability, accessibility and trust in mind.
  • Review and refine designs after implementation to protect product quality.
  • Contribute to design standards, documentation and best practices as the product scales.

Visual and motion design

  • Work with the sales and business teams on design needs beyond the product.
  • Create graphics for sales, marketing and business use.
  • Produce motion design for campaigns, presentations and product showcases.
  • Keep visual and motion work consistent with the product’s design language.

Requirements

  • Solid experience in product design for complex, multi-step applications.
  • Has designed for both web and mobile, with an understanding of iOS and Android conventions.
  • Strong understanding of UX principles, design thinking and user-centred design.
  • Able to translate ambiguous ideas into clear flows, wireframes and high-fidelity designs.
  • Comfortable picking up and improving an existing product and design system.
  • Experience working closely with engineers and understanding technical trade-offs.
  • Strong graphic design skills.
  • Strong motion design skills, with a portfolio that shows it.
  • Confident owning design decisions and explaining the reasoning behind them.
  • Ambition to grow into a design leadership role.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with founders, senior stakeholders and non-design teams.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing fintech, SaaS, admin or dashboard-heavy platforms.
  • Familiarity with design engineering concepts such as handoff, constraints and component-driven design.
  • Experience evolving design systems at early-stage companies.
  • Understanding of accessibility, internationalisation and trust-driven UX.
  • Exposure to user research, usability testing or analytics-driven iteration.
  • Some experience guiding other designers or leading a design workstream.

Growth opportunities

You will own design on a global platform that is still early enough for your decisions to shape where it goes, working directly with the founder on product vision and execution. As the product and team grow, there is a clear path to leading design, with high autonomy, real decision-making authority and long-term growth potential.

Contract and compensation

  • Initial term of 3 months, full-time.
  • Possible extension or long-term offer, based on performance and roadmap needs.
  • Compensation is flexible for exceptional candidates.
